Desert Walk

Outside the El Paso Museum of Archeology there is a cool desert walk. Rei and Ian looked really awesome in this pic, I thought. That's an octotillo to the right of Ian. :)

Big Steps

I took the kids to the Chihuahua Desert Gardens at UTEP a couple of weekends ago. Rei and Ian loved the steps in an area outside of the gardens. They ran up and down the stairs and the ramps for about a half an hour. ;)

Strike a Pose

Rei loves to dance. I wanted to get a pic of her in her ballet outfit. As soon as she saw the camera, she got into this position. Very cute, huh. Ian is watching in the background. :)

More White Sands Ian

Ian really loved White Sands. He ate a lot of sand! I had to watch him constantly.

White Sands Ian

On Sunday, the kids and I drove up to White Sands National Monument. It was really amazing. The place looked just like it was covered in snow. In fact, as we drove up to the dunes, Rei said: "Cold."

This is a picture of Ian near the 6 mile point of the Dunes Drive. That was as far as we could go by car since the rest of it was flooded out.

Sleeping

My kids weren't feeling well and both ended up sleeping with me a couple of nights ago. When I woke up, I found the two of them snuggled up and thought it was cute. :)

Basket of Rats

My daughter, Rei, loves the baby rats. She plays with them every day. Here's a photo of her with two rats in a basket.

Halloween Candy

This is only some of the candy my kids collected on Halloween. Rei loves candy and even likes looking at pictures of it. It's funny though, she won't eat all of the candy you give her (she's allowed 2 pieces of candy at a time). She eats a little, then has enough and will throw the rest away.

Día de los Muertos celebration (Festival de Michoacàn)

Yesterday, in the evening, Rei, Ian and I went to the Festival de Michoacàn celebrating Día de los Muertos. It was very interesting!

As we were leaving, I shot this picture of Pindekuecha group playing. I wish we could have stayed longer, but Ian was sleepy. ;)

Horse and Water

Yesterday, Rei, Ian and I went to Therapuetic Horsemanship in Anthony, TX. Rei loves going because she gets to ride a horse for about a half an hour to 45 minutes, depending on how busy it is. She loves horses!

This is a picture of one of the horses drinking water that morning.

Red, Yellow, Blue

I bought one of my dogs, Pai, a sweater for this winter. It does get cold where we live, in El Paso. She's a pit bull and has very short fur. Pai always shivers whenever it gets to be colder than 60 degrees (Fahrenheit).

Pai hates having her picture taken and runs away when she sees a camera, so she's tough to photograph. I like how this turned out with the primary colors being predominant. I just wanted to snap a picture of her sleeping, but it turned out better than I expected.

Baby mouse (rat)

My daughter, Rei, thinks her pet rats are mice. The babies are crawling around and big enough to hold, but their eyes are still closed. Rei was very gentle with the baby rat she held. She loves animals. :)

Shoehenge

My son took all of the shoes out and lined them up. It looked pretty cool, but it was hard to take a picture of with the lighting not being great where he piled and arranged them. I used Photoshop to fix the lighting and tweaked the image a little to make it more dramatic. Not a great photo, no, but I like it anyway.

I guess since I watched him diligently build this thing, I want to remember it. It was cute. ;)

Pile of Baby Rats

I bought 2 pet rats for my daughter, Rei, last month. They're super pets: they don't bite like hamsters do, they're the perfect size for her to hold and pet and they clean themselves, like cats. They even use a litterbox (but aren't as fussy about it as a cat is--oh well). Rei loves them. She thinks they're mice. =^.^=

I had to name them, since I couldn't get Rei to understand how to name them. One is white with a dark gray stripe, so I named her Stripe. The other is a tannish-greyish color that I think Rat fanciers call pearl-color. Well, I named the other one Silver.

Silver is a dumbo rat, which means she has bigger ears than a normal rat. She also came to us already pregnant. On the 14th of October, she had 10 little babies. Here's a picture of them. They tend to pile up. I took the pic yesterday, so they're getting their fur now and should open their eyes soon. They're going to be pearl color like their mom. I think we might keep 2 girls and Pet Barn said they'd take the rest. I know that since they're special rats, dumbos, that they'll be sold as pets, not food.

Chauncey the Unicorn

When I was little, my mom bought me a playset made by Mego toys. The only things I have left from the toy are the unicorns. There was an adult named Chauncey and a baby, named Hugo. My daughter, Rei, loves these unicorns and I figured I'd take a picture of one. This is Chauncey on our windowsill.

At the Jr. High

On Rei's fall break, we went up to the Slider Jr. High and walked around the football field and track. Yep, another family photo. *grins*

First Post

I wanted to start taking more photos.

I actually have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography, but I hardly ever take any real photos of anything or anyone. I snap shots of my kids and husband (when he lets me, he's camera shy) but that's it.

I was recently listening to one of my favorite podcasts, GeekNights with Rym and Scott, and one of them mentioned the idea of a photo diary. I couldn't get the idea out of my head and I want to start one, too. This is it.

To start the ball rolling, this is a picture of my daughter, Rei, dancing like Barbie from Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses.
